Bailey's Irish Cream has a recipe to help, when you’re too full to eat a decadent dessert and feel like the over-stuffed character in that Monty Python film (“A wafer-thin mint sir?”). Order a drinkable dessert and ride the latest wave. The idea here is to pair an after-dinner drink with something sweet and flavourful that says dessert in drinkable form.
Sound good? For all of you sweet-tooths and cocktail makers and shakers out there, you’ll want to know that Baileys Irish Cream is challenging amateur foodies, professional chefs and mixologists to create their own cocktail versions on traditional desserts.
If you’d like to get a piece of the action, you can visit www.drinkabledesserts.com now through December 15 to submit your very own creation. The site offers a list of suggested ingredients and garnishes which can be mixed with a base of Baileys Original Irish Cream or its two new flavours, Baileys Mint Chocolate and Baileys Caramel. Winners will be featured in Gourmet Magazine’s April 2007 issue and will be awarded a trip to New York City with a guest for a private cooking class in the Gourmet Cooking Arts Center with Chef de Cuisine, Jennifer Day.
