Left Valentine's Day preparations to the last minute? No worries- here are some suggestions to bail you out of your predicament, brought to you by your Food Trends cupid.

For anyone out there looking to come up with a few Valentine's treats for their sweethearts, here are a bevvy of terrific suggestions to bail you out of the last minute jitters (for any procrastinators in the crowd).

Let's start off with some fabulous cocktails. You can go the bubbly route and choose to offer your beloved a champagne, brut, or cava-based cocktail, or a plethora of libations inspired by Smirnoff Vodka's US coast-to-coast travels. There's even some Chilean wine for vino lovers...

  • Champers and a few ingredients to give your sweetheart a bubbly starter! From a Mimosa recipe to how to enhance the goodness of cava with pomegranate syrup, you'll be your own expert mixologist du nuit.
  • You want to infuse the night with a little Bossa Nova? Try a Brazilian Caipirinha and beat the February blahs in one citrusy swig!
  • Use Cameron Bogue's expertise and look like a suave man or woman behind the bar. Cocktail recipes inspired from Cameron's research missions in Maui and Hollywood- you'll be the star of the show!
  • If you'd rather a cocktail recipe or two from the Big Easy and the Big Apple, Cameron's got you covered. Unique, sensual and delectable- who could ask for anything more?
  • More of a vino person? No worries- here are a few Chilean suggestions to keep you in the red!

You've had a drink or two and want to move on to something a little more substantial, right? Good- then things are going well and you'll want to sample some of these recipes or tips to make your night as seamless as possible:

  • Start the party off right with a tremendous, easy to make and finger-licking cheese dip you make yourself! Liptauer spread is tasty- and garlicky- but hey, if you're both eating it, then it's all good!
  • If you're having a caipirinha, you might want to make your own Pasteis or a batch of fresh, out of the oven cheese puffs Brazilian stylie- Pao de Queijo. Bom bom bom!
  • Aphrodite's menu for the healthy, compliments of Rose Reisman. Who doesn't love a good appetizer, an AWESOME salmon in a soy-maple glaze and a chocolate fondue for two? It puts the Mmmm in Marvellous!
  • Feeling lavish? How about a recipe for Baked Lobster Tails? Hey big spender- bon appetit!
  • A gorgeous Crepe and Salmon dish would be a wonderful way to show your loved one you really, really care!
  • Don't have time to cook? No worries- take your sweetheart to La Bruschetta Restaurant or order in and serve on your finest china! I won't tell, I promise!
  • Speaking of ordering in- you can have Karen Viva-Haynes at Viva Tastings create a pic-nic pour deux, a fabulous tasting menu or a few delightful snacks- you're the boss!
  • Stuffed but wanting a sweet finish? How about a Drinkable Dessert a la Baileys Irish Cream?
  • Good for you, your heart and your taste buds- Dark Chocolate. What a way to say "you are loved!"

Have fun, enjoy and let me know what worked for you and your Valentine! Always interested in your feedback! Have a very happy day and an even better night!
