The food-based spa treatment trend is still going strong at the Millcroft Spa where chocolate, malt and barley take centre stage.

At theMillcroft Spa, you not only get pampered, you can choose from treatments that are literally, almost good enough to eat! As an added bonus, you can rest assured that you’re receiving the best possible attention from friendly staff that travel to Europe to learn about the latest treatment and product trends.

Oh My Chocolate!

One of these surely has to be the Deluxe Organic Chocolate Pedicure- a sensory delight for your feet, your skin and your olfactory senses. The treatment starts with a leisurely soak in a herbal foot bath, followed by careful and attentive nail care. Your feet (including all of the rough calloused bits) are exfoliated and left sandal-worthy. Next, a beautiful selection of pure, essential oils are presented – your favourite scent is added to the Millcroft’s “proprietary organic chocolate paste.”

This delightful concoction that smells good enough to sip in a cup of with just a dash of warm cream is then put in plastic booties that your feet slide into. For added warmth, heated boot-shaped hot pads cocoon the feet in their own, velvety chocolate universe (lucky feet!). After a thorough rinsing, you’re treated to a sumptuous foot massage with lovely creams (German products Gehwol is the foot care product line of choice at the spa).

The Facts: This full-sensory engaging treatment using organic chocolate and essential oils take 85 short minutes to complete and costs $90 CDN. A juicy tip was left for the lovely technician (taxes extra).

For Beer Lovers and the Gents

Now given that many couples go to the spa, there are some gentlemanly treatments that even the most hardened “I don’t do spa” kind of guys can agree will be a good time. For these chaps, the spa recommends the Malt & Barley Pedicure (that ladies can certainly enjoy too of course!). This Millcroft Exclusive or signature treatment offers all of the accoutrements of any pedicure (foot soak, nail care) with the added delight of an organic malt and barley food scrub AND a cold glass of Hockley Gold Premium Draft to savour while your feet get the royal treatment. The husband enjoyed his first ever pedicure - he is now a pedi convert!

The Facts: Beer and a pedicure- what’s not to love? The 60 minute treatment (including a glass of draft) costs $75 CDN before tax and tip. And you must be legal drinking age to imbibe your frosty glass worth of liquid gold.

It’s no surprise then that The Millcroft Inn & Spa is a multi-award winning property with as much to offer in the spa, as it does in its restaurant and surroundings. Now if they could just make portable chocolate booties for customers to take come….
