It does this by making more good, HDL cholesterol and reducing triglycerides according to the study "Cholesterol-Lowering Effect of a Theaflavin-Enriched Green Tea Extract," by David J. Maron and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine Vol. 163 No. 12(2003). Aids Weight LossGreen tea can also help tea drinkers lose weight. According to researcher a paper called "Oolong Tea Increases Energy Metabolism in Japanese Females," by T. Komatsu and published in The Journal of Medical Investigation, people that drink five cups of green tea a day can burn up to 70 to 80 more calories than those that don’t drink green tea. In this Japanese study, the tea drinkers drank a certain type of green tea called oolong. Oolong is commonly distributed and can be found where most teas are sold. A study by the University of Geneva concluded that drinking green tea may raise metabolic rate. This ends up burning more calories, which agrees with the Japanese study.
