Bra Bag, Triumph International
Food and Fashion unite! Triumph International has created a fetching red lace bra that turns into a re-usable and environmentally friendly grocery shopping bag.

OK, you’ve likely heard of a wind-breaker jacket that turns into a small shopping bag, but I bet you’ve never heard of the latest grocery shopping bag craze to hit Japan; a brassiere that turns into a grocery tote. Well, you have now, because the crafty folks at Triumph International are the makers of said grocery bra bag, and from what I can tell, it’s a big hit in Japan.

Still think I’m pulling your bra strap? Click here to see the bra origami required to untuck, fold and assemble your own sassy “lover’s red” bra bag (it all starts by taking out the bra’s cup padding). Just think of the looks you’ll get as you sashay through your local market with pretty lace “cups” flickering every so gently in the breeze. The poor produce boy won’t know what hit him! Especially if you’re carrying said bra rather than wearing it. But I digress…

Story has it that Triumph created this new concept for an ever-increasing environmentally-aware Japanese market; all in the name of reducing the use and consumption of grocery store plastic bags. Hey, I’m all for reusing and recycling amigos, and if you’re read some of my past postings, you’ll know I’m all for conservation as well. It might just be that the Japanese are onto something here. Last minute grocery shopping? No problem! Just discretely take off your bra in the privacy of your own car or in a bathroom stall and walk out with a handy portable tote. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you if the grocery clerks fight over who gets to bag your groceries for you (hey- I could have said “handle your melons” OK!). Ah, ingenuity, where will you take us to next? The boxer brief that turns into a lunch bag? Who knows, but if the Japanese have anything to say about it, it will be intriguing to say the least and likely environmentally friendly to boot!

At least for some of us...what we could carry in our bras-turned-tote-bags would probably be less than the allotted calories for Weight Watchers. I'm not even going to address the fact that I'm half-gaigin/half-Japanese and Tokyo is the only place where I had to go the the MIDDLE of the rack to find clothes...think about that a minute...
