The Pampered Chef has everything the cook in your life could ever ask for and more: from the latest in quality kitchen gadgets to tasty pantry treats.
When I was invited to a Pampered Chef Home Cooking Show months ago, I had no idea what I was in for. Any thoughts of a typical, direct-sales party (pushy salesperson; anxious host) went out the door when I arrived at my pal Vandra’s home. I relaxed, watched (and even helped) our Pampered Chef consultant prepare a pizza using the tremendous pizza stoneware and numerous other handy products while having a very enjoyable time. These were good-looking, durable, useful kitchen products that weren’t a king’s ransom in price.
SOME OF MY FAVOURITE PAMPERED CHEF ITEMS:
The Pampered Chef Garlic Press- here’s a press that lets you put big pieces of garlic or ginger into a large hopper. An added bonus- you don’t have to peel your garlic- it presses the bulb for you, leaving only the skin behind! It’s all metal, and dishwasher safe. Makes preparing Italian and Spanish garlic-heavy foods a snap!
Easy Read Measuring Cups- a wonderful innovation that lets you read measurement marks from above. Ideal for liquids and best of all- the measurements come in imperial and metric to accommodate all of your favourite recipes.
Bamboo Spoon, Spatula Set and Tongs- Tough, stylish, practical and best of all, bamboo loves water so you can place these in the dishwasher when you’re all done and not fuss with any messes. Now that’s a helpful timesaver!
The Suds Pump®- a unique little pump that requires a few drops of hand soap and some water to give you a sanitizing foam (perfect for little hands in a hurry). Saves you time and money since you use a fraction of the soap required while attaining clean hands.
Pampered Chef Stoneware- I’ve save the best for second last- the stoneware helped put this company on the map. After baking say oily croissants in your stoneware, you’ve “seasoned” your pan or baker. I bought the Large Bar Pan- perfect for squares, bars, brownies, or jelly rolls. I also like to use it for roasting potatoes and other fall veggies. Cookie pans ensure a crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside finish, and the pizza stone was perfect in helping to cook up a glorious crust that wasn’t dried out or tough (the stoneware distributes heat evenly). Cleaning up is a breeze- you wash these with lukewarm water and a scraper that’s included with each stoneware item- never soap. You’ll want the whole range- from muffin pans to pie plates once you’ve tried one of the stoneware products. I know I do!
The Pampered Chef has also crafted a line of lovely pantry products that are delicious. The Double Strength Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract is a must for any serious baker. The Basil Blend Canola Oil is light and flavourful- ideal for a salad or as a finishing oil and the Bell Pepper & Herb Rub is wonderful on steak, chicken or any kind of meat.
The Pampered Chef was started by an Illinois-based Home Economist named Doris Christopher who wanted to do something from home that worked around her daughters' schedules and was useful in some way. She brainstormed ideas with her husband and one day, an early blueprint for The Pampered Chef came to her.
Here’s a woman with chutzpah! Doris started her now international business with a $3000 investment, attention to detail, and a keen awareness of what works in the kitchen. You can read her amazing story in her book, The Pampered Chef: The Story of One of America’s Most Beloved Companies (Currency/Doubleday).
Her other mission was to empower women to make a viable career out of helping families enjoy a meal together.
The Pampered Chef products are timeless, durable and each piece comes with its own handy little recipe for future use- PERFECT for gift-giving (for others or for yourself!).
