Mushrooms, Betty Croker

What would your Yule Log be without some whimsical edible mushroom garnishes? With these dainty little caps, nothing short of Fabulous.

The piece de resistance for your Betty Crocker Yule Log cake has to be the fun and fantastic Mushrooms (made of chocolate and marshmallows) that will draw admiring oohs and ahhs from all around your holiday table.

Here's the method savvy food-stylists employ that you can make in your home kitchen in a snap!

  1. Trim the pointed tops off Hershey’s kisses with a paring knife to resemble mushroom caps.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Using tongs (or very carefully with fingers) touch the bottom of each kiss to the pan to just slightly melt the base (1-3 seconds).
  3. Immediately press a mini marshmallow into the centre of the base and let stand until completely set (or chill for faster setting).
  4. Dust the tops with icing sugar and place on cake.

Finally, enjoy with family and friends and bask in the glow of your winning efforts! Eat your heart out Martha.

Could not find Hershy's Kisses in Australia.Used PFEFFERNUSSE Iced Spiced Gingerbread biscuits and stuck them to marshmallows with melted chocolate. Both the domed shaped biscuits and marshmallows are fat and dairy free (but who cares when you are eating a yule log)

Hi Lynnde- that's most resourceful of you- and of course I didn't stop to think you'd not have those Kisses (which aren't a favourite chocolate treat of mine, but in this case do the job very well).... Good for you and thanks for sharing. How did the Yule Log work out for you?
