Just one word: Yum!!

Okay, okay, a few more words: I can hardly wait to go and explore their wonderful-sounding menu. Full report when I do!

Thanks for all the enticing . . . no, mouth-watering . . . no: drool-making details!!

:-) I think everyone living in and around Toronto should check this place out. It is INFINITELY better than chain Italian fare, much more authentic, very reasonably priced, and heck, you NEVER KNOW just who might be at the table next to you. Story goes, I just missed Ryan Gossling by days- and that's a too bad for me!

La Bruschetta was by far my favourite Italian restaurant until August 30th 2007. I went with my family for my 50th birthday. I don't know what was with the kitchen this night, but I have never been served a dish with way too much SALT. It totally ruined my dinner. I ate and didn't mention a thing to my family. When we got home, I asked my husband how his dinner was and he said horrible. He mentioned he almost sent it back. He also did not want to ruin the evening. We both had different pasta dishes with shrimp. After being charged for an extra dinner when the bill came that pretty much topped it off for me.
I doubt I will be back. I have been going there for about 12 years. It's a day later and I can still taste the salt...YUCK

Hi there Torontotraveller:

I'm very sorry to hear this about your special birthday meal. There's nothing as disappointing as gathering your loved ones for a nice, memory-making meal only to have it turn out to be the wrong kind of memories.

Here's what I ALWAYS tell my family and friends when something like this happens- it's your perogative and frankly right to ask for a replacement dish if yours was overly-salty. Perhaps Benito or Silvia were not in the kitchen (they have been known to take the albeit odd night off) and someone else was at the helm. Whatever the reason, this is Your hard earned money we're talking about here, so being "polite" as we Canadians are wont to do in such situations does Nothing to make a meal memorable or enjoyable. It would be a shame if you never went back based on this one unpleasant experience- hopefully over 12 years your times there were wholly wonderful.

That's why I always say, if it's not good, too salty, undercooked, over cooked/burned etc... I ask for another dish. My husband and I agree that our playing "martyr" so as not to offend or upset anyone does nothing but offend and upset us- so with tact and calm we ask for something else or a replacement(if that STILL doesn't do the trick, we speak to the manager). It's worth asking- any restaurant worth their salt will glady accomadate You- the very reason they're in business.
Hope your next meal out is stellar!
